There she lies

Dropping down
to plead with a god
I don’t believe in
that this life is
nothing more
than a dream
disguised as a
nightmare and instead
you never left and
my hand is still in yours
and there is still life

of the closed lids
in the velvet lined box
where my dreams
have gone to die.
